The muse, the silver and the lake - La musa, la plata y el lago

(english version)
The muse looked at him with her eyes and heard sweetly in her head:
“This is a source of magical power, a pure source of priceless power. And as such, in turn, it is dangerous. This source of magic is located in an ancient forest. The forest is home to mysterious and unique creatures, who have no sympathy for those strangers to the forest. For those that the forest does not accept. They are creatures that once populated the world. But today, they have chosen to end their story here. In the place where the first words reside.”
From within his Ralminiarrak's consciousness, he tried to wake up, to open his eyes. But the sweetness of the muse held him captive, as if he rested in the silver lake. She didn't let him react. She wouldn't let him open his eyes. “Don't open them yet. If you do you won't want to leave - she whispered into his ears. It is not time for you to stay here, you have not finished your mission yet". Remember - she said tenderly - I will always be here for you. But now take this with you, listen carefully: "the mystery of silver is something that Andalas has forgotten. Remind them that”. The magician woke up with a serenity never experienced before. He woke up fulfilled. He sat up and saw nothing around him except his own thoughts. Slowly he held his neck. That voice. Again. And he thought: "the mystery of silver It's something Andalas has forgotten. Remind them that."

  • Ral - listened. Ral! he heard again. A peaceful voice called out to him. Turning he saw his mate, the chosen one. The Randamatarkus, the thirteenth reincarnation of him holding out his hand.
  • "Sit down," he told him softly.
  • What happened? - asked the stunned wizard.
  • You slipped off a ledge, luckily fell into a lake, but the blow was hard. You were passed out. We got you out and you've been asleep ever since. I took care of you, Nippur concluded. Let's go, they are preparing everything to continue the trip.
Returning to the group, they were all glad to see the wizard on his feet. While they are all aware of his flimsy build, another loss in the group would have been hard to get over. Under the command of Glodin, the march towards the Ziggurat began. The landscape was reiterated in the cavern, rock on rock and more rock. Earth and more earth. Silence and darkness. Glodin was too pleased not to accept the header alongside Dernwick. No doubt the dwarf breathed happiness. The atmosphere mutated as the three-peaked volcano came into visual range. There was no longer so much coarse on the land and it was beginning to appear cracked, thirsty. To the existing discomfort was added an overwhelming heat and a thick air, rich in sulfur and ash, which ended up diminishing along with the visual field of the group, their march.
A hum broke the volcanic rhythm, lighting up the cavern. Then another. They saw at the top of the cavern coming out of the vapors of the volcanoes a ship in flames rushing down. And behind him, a majestic red dragon. It is an Elder Dragon, Siegfried said, fixing his gaze on the ominous antlers on fire surrounded by rings. Stay still, all of you, if he sees us we don't have a chance! Hopefully it won't do anything to us. For sure, she knows we're here. It's Dragota, a dragon of legends - he concluded with a dry voice.
The dragon attack continued on the winged boat. The shards shot out, there was no way to avoid the fall. The sails, the ropes and the bowsprit were thrown out on fire.
  • There! Dernwick said. Something is falling.
  • I saw it! I go! Nippur replied. Who is coming?. With a jump the magician grabbed hold of Nippur. And they left towards the place of the fall of the object.
As they ran they identified that what was falling was not something, but someone. The body did not respond, it was in free fall. While Dernwick from his sternian height sternia contemplated the image. Helplessness gripped Siegfried and Glodin; His honor suffered when he saw that after crashing the ship against the side of a stalactite, in a thunderous blow, the terrible dragon lit its rings of fire and fell with all its greatness on the ship, reducing it to ashes.
  • Let's go! - Siegfried said after understanding the dragon's intentions. He won't come for us, let's go with Ral and Nippur. We must not split the party.
The event happened almost imperceptibly. Even in the deep darkness, only those who were following the falling object with their eyes perceived it. Glodin could not see it. In full fall a delicate light slowly began to surround the  one who fell. And at the moment of impact a golden light gushed out from the chest and surrounded the body. This is how Nippur and Ral described it to the group. And they also added in unison, "a golden hand cushioned the blow." In front of them lay unconscious a man clad in metal armor bearing Pritheus's flashing symbol.

  • Ral - escuchó. Ral!
No debemos separarnos.

Quizá Glodin no haya podido verlo.

The beggining - El Inicio

    (english version)

The humid forest on the outskirts of the free city of Calistenia witnessed his first evocation. Beneath the thick foliage he raised his hands and pronounced those words forbidden by his instructor. The violet phosphorescence came off his hands violently. The power flowed uncontrollably and threw him backward with force, dragging him across the stony ground to a small rise in the ground. The blow made him faint before the phosphorescence in his hands dissipated, in the delirium caused by the concussion a glow was fixed in his eyes. The mist in the forest thickened and a light rain broke into the atmosphere. Blue lights rose into the now dark sky and settled like stars. His vision sharpened and projected over the forest, through the mountains and beyond the silver waterfall. He saw the trees of the garden of light. He saw the muses of the arts. He saw the inverted mountain crowned with the silver target. He saw her face.

The sound of rain on leaves confused him. "I didn't understand what was happening", he confesed afterwards. Bringing her hand to the site of the wound, he opened her eyes and after a moment, he remembered. He remembered his beginnings in the kitchen, mixing flours. The spiced breads and the carrot and cabbage salads. He remembered how he took a cookbook and reading it he made his first spell. He remembered his instructor. He remembered that it couldn't rain. "I was in the cave. In the depth of the earth. But it was indeed raining" he add. From the height of the cavern, the water moved through hundreds of stalactites with a singular rhythm. The sound of each drop on the surface made him nostalgic; it reminded him of the aroma of freshly baked muffins on an afternoon awash with damp, withered autumn leaves. The memory lingered on him, even after he got up. With dazed steps he hesitated, unable to forget the book, the forest, the blow, the muffins, and the vision.

    (version castellano)

No comprendía qué estaba pasando.

Rezó a Altiof.

The dark path over the fringes of the heart of the world took many lives from the company that escaped from Hasti Laatus months ago. Dark beings and challenges from the deep cavern stood in the way of the promise. Without knowing the course, discontent began to spread among the group. Orgald's drapes tried to maintain morale but against hunger and fatigue the task was extremely difficult. The darkness whispered to each of them, its winds of despair enclosing them. The frictions were not long in coming and along with them the questions arose: “Why did we agree to this promise? Why don't we stay at the Kidris temple?"
In one of the endless tunnels or paths of the deep, the group found themselves walking over a small river, heading in some direction. The landscape of rocks, dirt, and wet streams didn't help fight the seeds of hatred that the dark tried to plant in their minds and hearts.
//I think, it was our hearts that kept us strong. Our mind was already in its last moments// - Ganric confided some time later.
In the moment of greatest despair, young Derwick interrupted the minds of his companions. Look! – He exclaimed. And he pointed to the left side of the road. Ganric, gained initiative and approached. No longer fighting the anti-magic field, he was able to increase the intensity of his magic light with ease. He climbed over some rocks and reached out his hand and passed it over the stone because a few small points of very faint brightness caught his attention. The discovery lit up everyone's face. Hope even in the darkest heart blossomed. Glodin stepped forward beside Garnic. How could I not see it! – He confessed kneeling down. He prayed to the gods of him looking up. He prayed to Altiof.

Meanwhile Ganric conjured a weak wind to blow away the earth that covered the strange figure, the reflection of the light immediately flooded the small space and everyone could appreciate what was presented to them in the same way. Carboniferous black in color with brown and reddish streaks, a motionless guardian dwarf stood before the group, blending into the stone. The statue of the dwarf warrior lay unscathed. In his hands was a battle ax and at his feet, like an extension of the cavern itself, a golden shield that reflected Ganric's light. The erosion of the cavern had not been able to dent the dwarven work. The statue's beard and rough appearance were preserved as if Altiof himself had requested to make it that day. The dwarf's gaze seemed to lock onto Yuser's eyes. This she stepped forward and put a hand on Glodin's shoulder. With tears in her eyes she looked at everyone and said, "This is a dwarven gatekeeper, Torfat Goldshield. This is the path that will lead us to Glorkral!"

- Yuser, Sigfrid said, in honor of my teachers, I reaffirm my promise to you. We will free Glorkral from the curse.
- Let's not wait any longer then! Let us thank our gods for this brilliant sign! And let's move to fulfill the promise made. So said Glodin, standing up and holding Yuser's hand, they went up the stairs that the dwarf protected.

The paladins spoke of the feat they were about to accomplish, inspiring encouragement in their companions. Hope enveloped them all as they climbed the stairs that the dwarf protected with his glowing shield. Even Ceredan allowed himself to bask in that excitement. And inside of him he thanked the gold-shielded dwarf for giving them another chance. And he repeated to himself. “Maybe he can get another chance. Another way. Another chance. Yes!". And with a smile on his face he said "thank you" in arcane words as he passed by the statue. Ralminiarrak listened to him. He understood, approached her and said: "Ceredan, I think it occurred to me how to cook the cave bat in another way, it seems to me that instead of putting that moss powder when it is boiling I should try...". Ceredan looked at him, and thought “another chance for me”, she smiled at him and for the first time she heard him. Ganric was the last to go up. And with him went the light.     The shield continued to glow.
