(english version)
He was born in the sternian town of Navhen, a coastal town at the foot of a mountain where a mountain range begins. An only child and quite pampered by his mother, a dressmaker, his father was a furrier.
One summer day the town drunk, Pantaleón "el meón" -famous for farting and peeing on the doors of the neighbors' houses- dropped a bottle that broke and its ass acted as a magnifying glass in a bundle of alfalfa next to the stable. The fire started slowly, but once alive, it could not be put out and reduced the town to ashes. Only Dernwick survived. He seems then that he was only 8 years old and went from experiencing comforts to experiencing great deprivation finding refuge in the caves of the mountains.
In the caves and ravines he led his life, there he met Not, a hermit who helped him survive and taught him to fend for himself in a wild and hostile world that he had never known before. At first he was kind of hard-headed, he couldn't find the strength to move forward. But hunger was stronger and after a few days of starvation he left the cave in which they lived and only caught a falcon with a stone hit on the head and just then, moved by appetite, he lit a fire and roasted it. Not amazed by the abilities of this little boy, he decided to take him as an adopted son. His ability to control fire helped him get through the cold winters typical of that northern region, in which he ended up adapting to the environment.
At the time the dragons invaded Andalas and Not dies in an avalanche caused by the low flight of a white dragon, for which he is forced to seek refuge in Pisach, one of the cities that were organized to defend themselves. Accustomed to wildlife, it was difficult for him to find himself again in an urban life. Moved by the death of Not, who was a father like him, he decided to leave for the world to find a way to stop the incessant attacks of the dragons.
He left for Eltz, where he met Glodin and Siegfried.
